We offer extra support to customers who may be facing financial problems or general wellbeing issues.

If you're struggling and think you may not be able to pay your rent, it's important that you get in touch with us to talk things through as soon as possible.

Our team has lots of knowledge to support you if you might be struggling with the cost of living - rent arrears, debt, budgeting, benefits such as Universal Credit, or need some help applying for funding for white goods and other essential items.

Benefits and budgeting calculator

Understanding your benefits entitlement along with budgeting is important to ensure you can make your rent payments.

The free Better Off Calculator helps you manage your monthly budget and see benefits information.

Sustainability Fund

At Coastline we hold a Sustainability Fund that customers can apply to in a crisis. By meeting criteria, providing expenditure details and being willing to work with our Welfare Team, we may be able to help.

The fund has supported many customers so far, so please contact us for more details.

For free advice about homelessness and many other housing issues call 0300 1234 161 or take a look at the Cornwall Housing website. You can also visit the council's Information Service near you.

Following the introduction of Universal Credit, this can only now be claimed if you:

  • are of Pension Age.
  • live in supported accommodation.
  • have temporary or emergency accommodation.

Visit the Money Helper website for free, clear, unbiased advice to help you manage your money. You can also access a Money Management Tool. This tool allows you to assess your situation very quickly by answering some questions online, and gives some great budgeting and financial guidance.

This organisation provides free debt advice to help you deal with your debt and set up a solution. Take two minutes to answer a few simple questions, so they can understand the best way to help you. Visit the website here.

This combines six benefits and provides both in and out of work support for people of working age:

  • Housing Benefit
  • Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Working Tax Credit
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Employment and Support Allowance
  • Income Support

Any other benefits can be claimed for as usual. You will receive one Universal Credit payment into your bank account each month. This includes money for your rent, so you must then make rent payments to Coastline.
