Rural Housing Week (July 6th-10th) celebrates and highlights the importance of affordable housing in sustaining communities across the country.
Coastline’s developments are all in Cornwall, which is one of the poorest and most remote counties in England.
James Cox, Assistant Director of Development and Sales, said: “Rural Housing Week at Coastline is about promoting why affordable housing is so important to rural communities across Cornwall.
“The county is made up of lots of rural communities and in each of those communities, there are different demographics of society with different needs. Our homes are provided to people and families that may not be able to afford a home on the open market.”
Last year we built 209 new homes and started a further 270, many of which comprise small, rural developments. Here are just a few examples of recent new-build projects which have breathed life into our cherished rural communities.
East Taphouse (June 2026, near Liskeard): 22 homes - a mix of one-bed flats, two, three and four-bedroom homes
Carnon Downs (May 2026, near Truro): 15 homes - eight social rent, seven shared ownerships
Veryan (March 2026, Roseland peninsula): 13 homes – eight social rent, five shared ownerships
Dobwalls (March 2026, near Liskeard): 24 homes – four one-beds, 13 two-beds, five three-beds and two four-beds
Troon (December 2025, near Camborne): 26 social rent homes
In 2024, Coastline was named the fourth fastest growing association in terms of building new affordable properties, the seventh year in a row that we appeared in the top 10 list published by Inside Housing.
We have committed, with our partners, to building around 300 new affordable homes each year up to 2030 to help families and individuals struggling with housing.
