A member of the Tenancy management team visited local towns and villages to discuss customers' concerns over antisocial behaviour (ASB).
Each year Coastline investigates and manages around 200 ASB cases, many of which can be resolved by encouraging customers to talk to each other or simply monitoring behaviour.
Sam’s recent visits to Mullion, Mawgan and Porthleven were highly successful, with many customers approaching us to share feedback, report incidents and disclose crimes. The presence of both tenancy and police representatives was well received.
We received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with several customers grateful for the opportunity to speak directly with us. Many asked if these visits could be held more regularly, highlighting how valued and reassuring our presence was in the community.
The day was a great example of a proactive partnership and meaningful customer engagement.
Facts about Coastline’s commitment to tackling antisocial behaviour:
- Some of the more severe incidents will take time to resolve and may involve keeping diaries. They could result in legal proceedings.
- Only a few cases - perhaps one or two per year - will result in customers being evicted because of their antisocial behaviour.
- Our primary aim is to try and stop antisocial behaviour from occurring, as we understand this can have a negative impact on neighbours and the community.
- We work in partnership with the Police and Cornwall Council’s ASB team to tackle reported problems. In some cases, Cornwall Council’s Environmental Protection team will also help us address issues, especially where noise is the prime nuisance.
- If you are concerned or affected by any anti-social behaviour which is occurring near your home, then please let us know by ringing the office, or raising an enquiry via My Coastline.
To help provide customers with better advice and information about ASB, we have recently refreshed our website. This provides better advice particularly around low level ASB issues, which many customers may be concerned about.
