Coastline encourages volunteering in all areas of the organisation.
We recognise and appreciate the positive contribution volunteers make to the organisation and that volunteering gives opportunities for individuals to achieve their own personal development goals.
Established in 2013, Coastline’s Volunteer Scheme has gone from strength to strength and in February 2021 it was successful for a third time in obtaining the nationally recognised Investing in Volunteers accreditation.
The volunteer scheme includes the following under its umbrella of support:
Coastline Volunteer Opportunities
Providing voluntary roles across a number of Coastline’s departments and projects including Coastline Homeless Service, Miners Court Extra Care and Housing Services. These roles are open to all, including customers and non-customers.
This enables current clients of Coastline's Homeless Service to volunteer within the service with additional support. It provides homeless clients with essential employability skills and a positive focus during their journey through the service.
This group of customers within our Miners Court Extra Care scheme are supported in donating their time. Their tasks range from befriending new customers to assisting with events and helping staff with monthly walk-a-rounds/litter picks.
This group of customers are supported to donate their time by getting involved in the scrutiny of the organisation, shaping service design and delivery as part of the wider involvement and engagement model. The Customer Voice has evolved from Coastline’s previous Customer Scrutiny Committee and is a new way of delivering scrutiny. You can read more on the Have Your Say page.
If you are interested in volunteering with Coastline please contact our Volunteer Manager Tamsyn Pegler on 01209 200200 or email firstname.lastname@example.org

Lucy is our longest serving volunteer having donated her time to Miners Court for over 11 years. After retiring from her job in retail, Lucy was looking for something to fill her time and saw an advert in a local newspaper. She has got to know people at the Day Centre very well, and says: “I really enjoy visiting the customers and making a difference.”
Denise has volunteered at our Homeless Service since August 2019. Her passion and experience lies in community work and comes from a background in education. Denise is now a wellbeing volunteer, focussing on the delivery of a dedicated course and one-to-one sessions. She also assists with Coastline’s community events through the year.
Alex has found that volunteering at Miners Court Extra Care has helped to change her life.
