Did you know we have colleagues dedicated to offering extra support to customers who may be facing financial or general wellbeing issues?
Anna-Marie and Katie work in our Income Team and have lots of knowledge to be able to support customers who might be struggling with rent arrears, debt, budgeting, benefits such as Universal Credit, or need some help applying for funding for white goods and other essential items.
COVID has been a financially difficult time for many people. If you are struggling, please do reach out for a chat with Anna-Marie or Katie – we might be able to help. If you have recently become or are at risk of becoming made redundant, you can reach out to us to see what you may be entitled to.
Katie says: “We have been supporting a customer who was suffering with her mental health and not receiving the correct benefits. She had high rent arrears and was burying her head and not engaging well with her rent officer.
After having a conversation with her, we put her mind at ease and she knew we just wanted to help. We supported her to apply for Universal Credit and looked at her expenditure and debt. With this, we were able to help her set up affordable payment plans, which was a weight lifted off her shoulders.
Because of the support we gave her, she started to feel more confident and decided she was ready to get some support for her mental health through counselling, which we pointed her in the right direction of. Due to some personal circumstances, the customer was eligible for Discretionary Housing payment.
This meant we were able to apply for some funding to wipe her arrears, we then worked with her to make sure she could stay on top of her rent payments moving forward and was given a complete fresh start.”

My Money Steps
If you are struggling to pay credit cards, loans or household bills, you can get help with debts at the My Money Steps site. It is a free and easy to use service from National Debtline which will give you a personalised action plan to manage your debts and help get rid of the stress that goes with them.
Money Advice Service
Visit the Money Advice Service page for free, clear, unbiased advice to help you manage your money. You can also access the Money Management Tool here. This tool allows you to assess your situation very quickly by answering some questions online, and gives some great budgeting and financial guidance.
