All change for Miners Row
Coastline Housing has developed 22 new affordable homes in Redruth, for local people aged 55 and over.
The housing charity has worked closely with Classic Builders, Redruth Town Council and Cornwall Council to bring the homes to completion.
The development, known as Copper Close, was made possible thanks to £879,428 of funding from Homes England and comprises a mixture of flats and bungalows, all for affordable rent.
Sheelagh Atherton, Development Manager at Coastline Housing, said: “We had received feedback that more affordable homes for older people would be a good thing for the town of Redruth, so we are delighted that we have been able to make this happen.”
The homes are situated just behind Coastline’s Miners Court Extra Care facility in the town, so future residents will be able to use the services at this scheme, including a day centre, restaurant, hairdressers and more.
Sheelagh adds: “We developed this scheme with Cornwall’s ageing population in mind. As residents get older, they will be able to remain in their homes and live independently for longer with the security of having care and support from Miners Court very nearby should they need it.”
The Lettings Team at Coastline Housing has been busy finding suitable residents for the homes and the first residents moved in this week. More residents will be moving in throughout July.
