Pride 09

Photo of Pride 09

At Coastline we like to get involved in Community events and this page will bring you information relating to recent events we have attended and perhaps a few stories and photo's to go with them.

Coastline Housing was proud to support the Cornwall Pride 2009 event, which aims to celebrate the diversity of our local communities.

Jane Pulley, Joanne Thomas, Jacquie Pilcher and Liz Bracelin all went along to fly the flag for Coastline, and set up stall alongside LGBT PACT and Intercom Trust, who we work closely with, and Healthy Gay Cornwall who are part of PACT. Unison was there too!
The team decorated all the stands with Coastline balloons, handed out some applications for housing and lots of goodies promoting Coastline. PACT were doing questionnaires which Coastline forms a part of, so we hope to get the results of these shortly. Peter Tatchell was there doing his bit to open and support Cornwall Pride.

Jane says: "It was such a positive day and support was there for everyone who may be struggling with their families or friends after coming out. One young lad was only 16 and kicked out by his parents for telling them he was gay. We got Steve Cannon (Diversity Officer) to chat with him and Al Green from Healthy Gay Cornwall and he really appreciated the support. It was so nice that people felt safe to talk to strangers about their difficulties and be free to express themselves without prejudice."
Jane carried out interviews for Rainbow Source FM and Scene FM - two online radio stations - and said it was a really good day, which was well attended and it was fabulous that we were a part of it.
She added: "Big thanks to Jo Thomas, Jacquie Pilcher and Liz Bracelin for all their help, enthusiasm and support on the day!"
