Introducing the Miners Court Extra Care Team

Coastline Housing’s Miners Court scheme in Redruth underwent a grand scale remodel and refurbishment in 2010 thanks to an investment of just over £1million from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Cornwall Council.

The development consists of 64 flats and is based in the centre of Redruth. The remodelling project saw all flats undergoing a complete refurbishment and the introduction of community facilities such as a hairdressing salon, a surgery for use by doctors/nurses and two respite care dwellings.

Miners Court is designed to allow residents to live independently in self-contained homes, and have a number of facilities on site which they can make full use of as they become less able to get out and about. It’s about providing a home for life for older people, and also opening up the scheme to the local community to ensure that everyone can take advantage of valuable services being offered – everything from hairdressing to podiatry to memory clinics and entertainment.

Facilities at this scheme include an adapted bathroom which is open to residents and the wider community, the Hair Hub, meals provision, treatment room and regular events take place.
