Some sheltered housing schemes, where a Supported Housing Officer lives on site, are eligible for a Concessionary TV Licence. This costs only £7.50 per household per year and the fee is collected by the Supported Housing Officer. Some residents have 'preserved rights' because they live in a scheme where different circumstances applied in the past.
Even if you are not eligible for a concessionary TV licence, all residents over 75 are eligible for free TV licence and residents who are Registered Blind are able to apply for a licence at a reduced price of 50% of the normal licence fee.
