Most Supported Housing Officers work from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday with a break for lunch. During these hours they will contact residents on all of the sites that they are responsible for, either in person or via the intercom systems to check on their wellbeing. On average each Supported Housing Officer is responsible for 70 residents over different sites. A list of Supported Housing Officers with their respective sites is available on request.
The Support Plan referred to earlier is an agreement describing the level of service that each resident wishes to receive. This may range from full service - including 3 visits and 2 intercom calls per week Monday - Friday, plus calls from the Control Centre at weekends - to a monthly visit.
A Supported Housing Officer's first priority will always be to assist residents in an emergency. If an emergency occurs during the normal times for making these calls and visits, the time of the regular visit or intercom call could vary.
Supported Housing Officers cannot undertake personal care, such as. bathing, administering medicines, dressing or lifting, shopping, meal provisions or dealing with financial matters, such as collecting prescriptions or paying bills. However in a genuine emergency they are allowed to offer some assistance of this kind in the short term until proper arrangements can be made.
