Tenants, shared owners and leaseholders of Coastline Housing's 3,700 properties across mid and West Cornwall are being encouraged to apply for a seat on the company's board of directors.
Applications are currently being considered by Coastline Housing for a Customer Director who will represent the needs and experiences customers at the social landlord's most senior level.
The influential role, attending board meetings each month, offers a range of benefits. As well as taking part in key board decisions, the successful candidate will be offered professional and personal developmental training and earn £3,000 per year on top of expenses.
John Pover understands the position well, having served as a Customer Director since 2006. He explains: "Customer Directors bring a valuable first-hand perspective to the board, especially when addressing issues which impact our own communities.
"We share the same status as any other board member, so we have real power to keep the board focused on Coastline's most important stakeholder - its customers.
"I was appointed two years ago, at it has been an enjoyable and rewarding experience. I have no hesitation in recommending the post to any customer who feels they have the time and commitment to improve the standards of products and services Coastline provides."
Coastline Housing's Chairman, Dr John Lander, agrees: "It is crucial that our customers continue to have their voices heard loud and clear at boardroom level during important decision-making moments.
"In order to achieve this, we now need someone with a strong sense of community and commitment to their fellow customers to join a Board where our most important concern is providing the highest levels of customer service."
