HomeBuy is the term used to describe a government funded programme of affordable home ownership, designed to help people who cannot afford to buy on the open market.
There are various HomeBuy schemes available. Coastline offers the Newbuild HomeBuy scheme, traditionally known as shared ownership or part buy, part rent. This means that you buy a share in a property (between 25% and 75%) and you pay a small rent on the part that you do not own. You can then buy more shares in the property known as staircasing, when you feel you can afford to.
Home2Own is the local government appointed agent for the HomeBuy scheme. They run a central waiting list of applicants for shared ownership and other forms of lost cost housing on behalf of Housing Associations in Cornwall, Devon and parts of Somerset.
If you are interested in buying a shared ownership property from Coastline Housing or any other Housing Association you will need to join the HomeBuy register as your first step. You can complete the Home2Own application form online or alternatively we provide application forms which you can fill in.
