Coastline supports and works in partnership with community groups which are run by local people to improve the lives of others.
The difference they make
Community groups help bring together people living in our neighbourhoods. They are often started by people who see communities would benefit from activities not offered by other organisations. Groups may offer services, organise events, or provide advice.
The time you need to give
You can choose to spend as much time as you like with any group you join, so it’s a good idea to check with them about the help they need. With most organisations, the more time is put in the better the results are for everyone involved.
How you can join
The groups shown below are active in our neighbourhoods. You can contact them directly by clicking their links for more details.
- South West Fibromyalgia Support Group
- RedYOUth Dance Group, Redruth
- TR14ers Dance Group, Camborne
You can read more information about Community Groups below, or continue to navigate a course through our pages to find out about the many ways to Get Involved with Coastline.
South West Fibromyalgia Support Group website launched!
Trisha Miners from the South West Fibromyalgia Support Group launched their new website on 6th December at Miners Court in Redruth.
The site offers help and advice for people with the condition and can be found at www.fibromygroup.com.
Leanna Cox from the Neighbourhood and Involvement Team helped to cut the ribbon as the site was built using funds awarded from Coastline's Project and Activity Capital Grants.
If you are involved with a community group, more information about applying to Coastline for a grant can be found on out apply for funding page.
RedYOUth Dance Group

RedYOUth currently runs 9 hours of streetdance each week for young people aged 3 to 21, and a further 2 hours of sessions for adults. It has built links with businesses and local schools, including Redruth School, Treleigh School, St Day and Carharrack School, Treleigh Church Hall and Redruth Rugby Club, all of whom allow the group to hold sessions on their premises.
RedYOUth primarily focuses on streetdance, but if members have ideas for a new activities they try to make it happen. For example art, craft and street art sessions have been arranged, plus mountain biking days.
In January 2012 RedYOUth was nominated for the Coastline Stars Young Person's Project of the Year award, won a public vote to receive some money from the local Police Community Cashback Award Scheme, and have been selected as the only Community and Youth Group in the county to represent Cornwall in the South West Olympic Celebrations!

Starting a Community Group
If you would like to start a Community Group in your area, the Neighbourhood and Involvement Team can help you to launch it. We can also provide advice and support until you decide the time is right to go it alone.
Our Community Group set-up guide gives lots of information on what you need to do in the early stages.
Coastline has a start up grant which can help get the Community Group started, and we can guide you through the application process. More information can be found on our apply for funding page.
Residents' Associations and Customer Representatives
Coastline invites members of Residents' Associations along with Customer Representatives to get together twice a year at joint meetings. Community Group leaders are welcome to attend too as these are great opportunities for people to make links with each other, learn new skills and exchange information.
Download the minutes from the last meeting to see what has been happening in our communities.
If you are a member of a Residents’ Association and would like to attend, the next meeting is on Tuesday 13th March 2012.
If you would like to know more about becoming an involved customer, please contact any member of the Neighbourhood and Involvement Team. You can e-mail getinvolved@coastlinehousing.co.uk, download the application form, call freephone 08082 027728 or our local number 01209 200200.
