Rob qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse in 1970. He then held a variety of management positions in the steel and engineering sector. Prior to the recent merger with Nationwide Building Society he was Non-Executive Vice Chairman of the Portman Building Society and was Chairman of both the Audit & Compliance Committee and the Remuneration Committee and was a member of the Nominations Committee.
