A charity based in Camborne which helps the homeless has launched its Christmas appeal.
The New Connection, a division of Coastline Housing, exists to prove that those without a home needn’t be without a hope and helps over 300 homeless people a year. Now, at a time of year when it can be particularly difficult to live on the streets, the charity is appealing for donations of spare or unwanted sleeping bags and blankets, warm clothes, towels, toiletries and tins of food.
Vicki Hamilton, Operations Manager, explains: “At Christmas, traditionally a time for families and celebration, it can be even tougher to be on the streets than at other times of the year. A warm coat or blanket, or an extra bit of food, can make all the difference in the world."
The New Connection has over 11 years experience helping the single homeless in Cornwall and always aims to work as closely as possible with every person who approaches the charity for assistance, advice, guidance and intervention.
Staff and supporters of The New Connection recognise that street sleeping is an unenviable lifestyle, and work tirelessly to give people the opportunities to make steps to change their lives for a brighter, happier future.
The charity owns the only homeless night shelter in Cornwall, which will be open for the Christmas period.
Anyone who wishes to drop off donations, can deliver them to The New Connection team at 11 Basset Road, Camborne, on any weekday between 9am and 3pm.
