Coastline Housing's first ever customer family away day has proved to be an overwhelming success.
A record breaking 130 customers of the Camborne based housing association braved the winter weather to sample the delights on offer at the event held at Treasure Park, Tolgus Mill, near Redruth.
The event was different from anything Coastline has organised before and was exclusively designed by its customers. Nicki Highton, Neighbourhood & Involvement Facilitator at Coastline led the organisation of the free family fun day.
“We wanted to organise an event where all our customers could come together to meet and take part in fun activities. And because nobody knows the services we provide like our own customers, we were keen to seek their views by encouraging them to visit our interactive consultation areas and answer a few questions,” said Nicki.
Customers took the opportunity to talk to members of Coastline’s executive team, senior management group and involved tenants at a ‘speed meet and greet’ area; they visited information stands staffed by various agencies and witnessed cooking demonstrations from Cornwall College on ‘cooking on a budget’.
Vouchers allowed visitors free entry to a range of attractions at the park, including the ‘Tolgus Tin and the Haunted Mine’ 4D ride, a visit to the Play Bus, a guided tour around the original and still operational Tolgus Tin Mine, and a free cream tea for all.
“The feedback from customers has been fantastic,” said Nicki, “and we are already planning a similar event for later this year.”
